First came the cover reveal…
Thanks SO much for all the fantastic feedback both here, on my Facebook Page and Twitter about the new Blackthorn covers – I very much appreciate it. It’s always good to know what fans of the series think and I’m thrilled (a.k.a. relieved ;-)) that you like the new style.
Now the first three chapters are on their way….
The first three chapters of Blood Torn will be available to read here for free on FRIDAY.
With only three weeks to go before the official release, I’ve already been informed there’s something of a Blackthorn marathon happening in the background with both Blood Shadows and Blood Roses being re-read before the launch of book three. That is so awesome! I hope you’re picking up on lots of little clues you might have missed first time around. Retrospect can be a great thing – especially with this series!
However, if you’re going to plough straight into Blood Torn but some things are a bit of a haze, this might help refresh your mind before you leap back into Blackthorn…
*WARNING! CONTAINS HUGE BLOOD SHADOWS AND BLOOD ROSES SPOILERS!*
Love can overrule fate…
Blood Roses ended with Leila having committed the ultimate serryn taboo – she fell in love not only with a vampire but, worse still, her nemesis, Caleb Dehain. He’s the leader prophesied to bring down human rule in place of vampire control. A serryn is the key to either evoking or thwarting it. One of them should already be dead, so to say she’s messed up what fate intended is something of an understatement. But more of that in due course.
Passing the gauntlet…
The greatest personal consequence for Leila is that the serryn line subsequently jumped to her younger sister, Sophia (known affectionately by her family as Sophie).
Unfortunately, Caleb not only knows this but also that his younger brother, Jake, didn’t end up on his deathbed by coincidence – it was an assassination attempt at the hands of the covert vigilante group Sophia works for: The Alliance.
A race against time…
Caleb’s inevitable hunt for Sophia has begun, albeit having granted Leila seven days to find an alternative to her sister’s pending fate. But, for Leila, it’s not just about Sophia’s fate – it’s about the fate of the vampire she loves and, subsequently, the fate of the world they live in.
But Blackthorn’s a small place…
In the final chapter of Blood Roses and the opening chapter of Blood Torn, Sophia was tied up in a subterranean room in Blackthorn – evidence of her new serrynity all over the floor – and Jask Tao, leader of the lycan pack in Blackthorn, having just found her.
We first met Jask in Blood Shadows and, by the end of it, he was not happy. Fourteen years previous, the Third Species Control Division had set up two members of his pack in an attempt to bring Kane Malloy into custody. Jask wanted those responsible dead – including the link between them, agent Caitlin Parish.
But, for the sake of Blackthorn, he and Kane struck a deal to hold on for the ultimate vengeance. A deal that, seemingly by the end of Blood Shadows, Kane went back on after falling for Caitlin. Only nobody goes back on a deal with Jask.
And so Blood Torn begins…
I hope you enjoy the sample chapters!
